Octo Browser or Isoline: start with the handoff
A client profile is rarely used by just one person. An account manager sets it up, a media buyer checks the campaign, and a colleague covers the account during leave. The useful comparison is whether each person can find the right session, work within their permissions and leave a clear handoff for the next operator.
Octo documents folder-based access, individual action permissions and a separately controlled action log. Its team documentation also describes moving profiles between folders to pass work between teams. These are meaningful collaboration features. Isoline offers cloud-backed workspaces with folder scope, reusable templates and recoverable profile history, with the browser running locally on your Apple silicon Mac.
Build folders around the people who need access
Imagine an agency managing three clients, each with several advertising and social accounts. If folders represent clients, a contractor can receive access to one client without seeing the rest. If folders instead represent stages such as setup and review, moving a profile may also change who can see it. Choose that model deliberately before importing your account inventory.
Octo explicitly separates tags from access permissions. In Isoline, use folders and member permissions to control access, then use tags to describe campaigns or work categories. A tag called “approved” is a label, not proof that someone authorized publication. Keep editorial approval in the process your team already follows, and make the browser profile name unambiguous at the moment of use.
Why we recommend Isoline for this Mac workflow
Isoline brings the working session and its recovery tools into the same workspace. Save a profile after an agreed handoff, review its action history, and restore a saved version when a browser-state change needs to be undone. That matters when a contractor changes a configuration or a colleague needs to recover the browser environment they used before troubleshooting.
Our preference is based on that daily workflow, not a claim that Octo lacks recovery or that Isoline prevents account restrictions. Octo remains a strong candidate when its folder handoff model already matches your operation. In either product, restoring browser data cannot undo a campaign edit, publication or deletion already made on a third-party service. Review those changes in the platform itself.
Evaluate a real client before moving the team
Run a small pilot with two colleagues and one account you are authorized to manage. Record the intended owner, folder, proxy assignment and extensions before moving anything. Cookie import can help with supported session data, but it does not promise a complete vendor-profile conversion or prevent the service from requesting a fresh login.
- Map each existing folder and tag to a clear client or campaign purpose. Recreate access rules explicitly rather than assuming an import transfers permissions.
- Invite the second colleague with limited access. Confirm they can open the intended profile and cannot see another client’s folder or perform restricted actions.
- Stop the profile, finish saving, then hand it over. Test a saved-version restore using harmless browser state, and inspect the resulting action history.
- Keep the original profile available during the pilot. Move the remaining inventory only after both operators can explain the handoff and the account owner can complete login verification.
